Aafin Ológèrè
Ààfin Ológèrè, the Ologere Palace, is the purpose-built institutional seat of the Ológèrè of Ògèrè. It provides a permanent setting for traditional administration, the Ológèrè-in-Council, royal ceremonies, community consultations, receptions and the preservation of important aspects of Ògèrè’s heritage.
A Purpose-Built Palace for Ògèrè
For generations, Ògèrè did not have a permanent central Palace of the scale and institutional form now associated with Ààfin Ológèrè. Former rulers generally used their own residences as their Palace. The present purpose-built Palace was initiated after HRH Oba James Obafemi Saliu ascended the throne in 2023.
Construction progressed over roughly two years under the leadership of the Ológèrè and the Ológèrè-in-Council, with support from sons and daughters of Ògèrè, residents, organisations, friends and other contributors. The completed Palace was commissioned on 26 April 2025 as part of activities marking the second anniversary of the current Ológèrè’s coronation.
The development established a permanent central royal institution for the town and created a stronger physical base for traditional administration, community engagement and heritage stewardship.

The Palace Complex
The Palace complex is designed as a working royal and institutional environment rather than simply a ceremonial building. It accommodates the functions of the Ológèrè, the Ológèrè-in-Council and Palace administration, while also providing spaces for consultation, receptions, community delegations, meetings, cultural engagement and the handling of matters that come before the traditional institution.
The complex also helps preserve continuity between Ògèrè’s royal history and the needs of a contemporary traditional institution. Public-facing areas sit alongside administrative, ceremonial and private areas, so access is guided by Palace protocol and the purpose of each visit.

Ògèrè Museum
The Ògèrè Museum is housed within the Palace complex and serves as a heritage collection preserving ancient artefacts, traditional regalia and material connected with the history, royal institution and cultural memory of Ògèrè. Among its displays are an Indigenous Hall of Fame celebrating trailblazers from the town across various fields, a media room featuring short historical documentaries, and a presentation on Ògèrè Rẹ́mọ and its culture.
The Museum strengthens the Palace’s role as a custodian of heritage and provides an appropriate setting for presenting objects and records that help interpret the town’s past.
Visitor access to the Museum follows Palace arrangements. Anyone making a special journey should confirm current opening arrangements and any access requirements through the Palace contact channels below.
Palace Protocol and Visitor Access
Ààfin Ológèrè is a living traditional institution. Ceremonies, consultations, cultural activity and community engagement take place within an environment governed by Palace protocol. The presence of public-facing heritage and meeting facilities does not make every part of the Palace an unrestricted visitor area.
Visitors should follow guidance on access, photography, dress, ceremonies and private or administrative areas. Formal delegations, institutional correspondence and enquiries about Palace activities should be arranged through the Palace contact channels.
