The Ológèrè of Ògèrè
The Ológèrè of Ògèrè is the traditional ruler and a central custodian of the town’s royal, cultural and community heritage. The institution links Ògèrè’s historic system of traditional administration with contemporary leadership, cultural stewardship and community engagement.
The Ológèrè Institution
The Ológèrè presides over a traditional institution that works through the Ológèrè-in-Council, recognised chiefs, the ruling houses, the Afobajes and other established community structures. The throne is therefore both a royal office and an institutional point of coordination for tradition, customary leadership, ceremonial life and community representation.
The institution is rooted in the history of Olipakala and the development of Ògèrè from the ancestral settlement at Agbele into the present town. Current Ológèrè
HRH Oba James Obafemi Saliu, Kankanbiina III, Arole Olipakala, The Ologere of Ogere, has occupied the throne since 2023.
As Ológèrè, he serves as the royal head of the traditional institution and works with the Ológèrè-in-Council and the wider community on matters of heritage, representation, peace, security, community development and engagement with public and private institutions.
His reign has also coincided with the establishment of a new purpose-built central Palace for Ògèrè, expansion of community-security infrastructure, empowerment initiatives and renewed attention to cultural and civic development.

Notes: Late Oba Adelana Osifayo was the first Ológèrè of Ògèrè in the present-day settlement. There were successive Ológèrès after him before Late Oba Fabayo Adifagbola. There were also other Obas (Kings) before the present-day settlement, including the reign of Olipakala at Agbele before the migration to the present-day settlement.
Ruling Houses and Succession
Ògèrè has four ruling houses: Jawo (Legunsen), Agbejoye/Fadagbuwa (Oyegunsen), Kankanbina/Ajigboye (Adegorunsen), and Logorun/Gunsenmade (Oregunsen). The ruling houses form part of the town’s historic succession framework and connect the throne with long-established royal lineages.

Ààfin Ológèrè and the Ológèrè-in-Council
Ààfin Ológèrè is the institutional seat of the throne and the principal setting for formal Palace administration, traditional consultations, receptions, ceremonies and meetings connected with the Ológèrè-in-Council. The purpose-built Palace gives Ògèrè a permanent central royal institution while retaining the dignity and protocol expected of a working traditional Palace.
The Ológèrè-in-Council supports the traditional ruler in the exercise of customary and institutional responsibilities. Its work sits alongside the recognised roles of the ruling houses, Afobajes, chiefs, quarters, compounds and other community institutions.
