50th Lipakala Day Anniversary 2026
The 2026 Lipakala Day celebration marks fifty years since the annual celebration was established in 1976. The Golden Jubilee brings heritage, unity and community development together in a landmark anniversary programme for Ògèrè Rẹ́mọ.
This Golden Jubilee is more than another annual gathering. It is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to celebrate identity, unity and collective progress, strengthen intergenerational connections and mobilise support for the next phase of Ògèrè’s development. It also marks the launch of a ₦2.5 billion fund towards the infrastructure development of Ògèrè.
Celebrating Heritage, Unity and Community Development
The 2026 Golden Jubilee is presented under the theme of celebrating fifty years of heritage, unity and community development. Its central message, “Honouring our founders, uniting our people and building the future,” reflects the town’s longstanding commitment to cultural continuity and collective advancement.
The programme extends beyond a single festival day. It combines environmental action, faith, youth empowerment, artisan development, education, health, sports, pageantry, music, traditional display and community celebration over ten days in October.

The Grand Finale includes the Golden Jubilee celebration, the launching of the ₦2.5 billion fund towards infrastructure development in Ògèrè, a Woro procession, the Ikokore/Pepper Soup and Asun Night, entertainment of guests and partner recognition. The event sits within the wider ten-day programme and is followed by a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, 18 October.
Ten-Day Golden Jubilee Programme
The ten-day Golden Jubilee programme brings together environmental action, faith, youth empowerment, artisan development, education, health, sports, pageantry, music and traditional cultural activities, culminating in the Grand Finale and Thanksgiving Service.
Each activity is available for sponsorship, either individually or as a whole day.
Fifty Years of Community Impact
The Golden Jubilee presents Lipakala Day not only as an annual celebration but as a platform through which community relationships and development initiatives have been advanced across generations. Lipakala Day’s heritage spans the celebration’s establishment in 1976, periods of community mobilisation in the 1980s and 1990s, expanding participation in the 2000s and 2010s, recent community projects, and the Golden Jubilee in 2026.
Five decades of Lipakala Day have left more than memories. The buildings raised by the collective effort of Ògèrè’s sons, daughters and partners demonstrate the model the Golden Jubilee now seeks to expand.
Lipakala Day is established as an annual civic celebration in remembrance of Ògèrè’s founders.
Participation broadens across families, traditional groups, clubs, associations and community stakeholders.
Diaspora participation and organised community mobilisation become increasingly prominent.
The celebration strengthens its role in cultural preservation and development advocacy.
Programmes broaden across youth, education, health, sports and culture, alongside fundraising for development.

A Community Renewed
The Golden Jubilee coincides with a period of active renewal across Ògèrè. Recent community infrastructure and contributions include the Town Hall interior redevelopment and dedication in August 2026, along with the restoration of the transformer and solar lighting infrastructure associated with public and community stakeholders.
The Ogere Town Hall houses the secretariat of the Ògèrè Community Development Association and hosts the town’s assemblies, receptions and civic occasions. Its interior has been brought back to life, with a new ceiling, lighting, balcony rails and sanitary facilities. The external rehabilitation remains outstanding.
The completion of the Town Hall, including external rehabilitation, furnishing and grounds improvement, is offered to partners as a headline Golden Jubilee project. Scope and costings are available from the OCDA secretariat on request.
Other recent infrastructure includes the FRSC Office in Ògèrè, donated by His Royal Highness Oba James Obafemi Saliu, and the Oshinmi Samuel Odugbesan Shopping Complex, built by the Ológèrè-in-Council in 2024.
Palace, Museum and Heritage
The Golden Jubilee is held under the royal blessing of HRM Oba James Obafemi Saliu, Kankanbiina III, Arole Olipakala, the Ológèrè of Ògèrè. Ààfin Ológèrè stands as the seat of tradition and custodian of the town’s history, and the Ogere Museum and Lipakala Cultural Centre serve as important heritage anchors within and around the Palace environment.
The Ogere Museum, located within the Palace complex, preserves ancient artefacts, traditional regalia, and materials connected with the history, royal institution, and cultural memory of Ògèrè. Its displays include an Indigenous Hall of Fame celebrating trailblazers from the town across various fields, a media room featuring short historical documentaries, and a presentation on Ògèrè Rẹ́mọ and its culture.
The Olipakala Monument stands at the entrance to Ààfin Ológèrè, the first thing every visitor to Ògèrè Rẹ́mọ meets and the emblem of the town’s founding story. The statue represents the founder’s enduring presence in the community and anchors the visitor experience at the Palace.
The Lipakala Cultural Centre provides a setting for cultural activity and forms part of the wider network of places through which Ògèrè’s traditions and community identity are expressed. It is located separately from the Palace and is a distinct landmark in its own right.

The Golden Jubilee partnership framework invites responsible partners from banking, telecommunications, healthcare, youth empowerment, education, sports, cultural heritage, beverage, media, hospitality, logistics and technology. In-kind support is also welcomed for media, healthcare, security, transportation, hospitality, printing, beverages, technology, power and venue support, where these are consistent with the programme and can be properly acknowledged.
Partnership levels range from Community Partner through Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Presenting Partner. Contributions may also take the form of programme sponsorship, brochure advertising or direct support for approved community projects. Individuals, families, age groups, clubs and associations are warmly invited to give at any level.
Priority projects are defined in advance, budgets are approved, income and expenditure are recorded, and every partner receives a concise post-event report covering delivery, reach, visibility and development outcomes. This commitment to accountability ensures that contributions are properly acknowledged and accounted for.
